Why we care

Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of pain in dogs, affecting around 80% of older animals. It significantly reduces quality of life and is a major reason for euthanasia.

Current veterinary management focuses on pain control using anti-inflammatory drugs, diet, supplements and exercise. Veterinarians need more effective disease-modifying drugs that can prevent the disease getting worse or even reverse the loss of joint cartilage that causes osteoarthritis.
